The “foundation” of the old colony of artists is associated with three dates, which offers three occasions to celebrate anniversaries.

The Szentendre Painters’ Society was established 75 years ago by the eight painters who began to work in an organized way, in an artists` colony’s community in our town first in the summer of 1926.
It was in 1929 that they moved into a permanent place, the property on Deák Ferenc Street, which could be unambiguously identified with a topographic number and address as the artists’ colony, where the painters found ground and shelter.
It was the old artists’ colony, which has had a 75- year-old eventful history.

Szentendre has another artists’ colony, a new one – though it has also had a 30-year-old past.
The Art Fund of the Hungarian Republic had it built in 1969 and let it to twelve artists selected.
